About this event
Are you interested in joining a group bike ride but not sure if you're ready? This two-session mini-clinic will get you up to speed!
Coordinator Lori Dale will lead the clinic and cover the following:
Session 1- May 4th
5:45 PM
Stuart Park (meet in parking lot) | 1800 Winch Lane, Springfield
- Introduction to group riding
- Bike etiquette
- When to use hand signals, shout outs and why
- The group will then go for a short ride up the Sangamon Valley Trail to practice and reinforce what we've learned
Session 2 - May 11th
5:45 PM
Stuart Park (meet in parking lot) | 1800 Winch Lane, Springfield
Stuart Park (meet in parking lot)
- Review of prior week's lessons
- The group will then go for a ride up the Sangamon Valley Trail and continue on low-traffic country roads toward Athens. No one gets left behind and we'll plan to ride at an EZ pace of 10-12 mph, depending on the group.
Safety
Bike helmet is required. Bring whatever bike you are riding, don't worry about "clip in shoes". We do recommend wearing cycling gloves, which you can get online or any of the local bike shops. A blinking red light is helpful and will be required during the second session when we go out on the road. A front headlight is optional.
