What is the Sangamon Cycling Series?
The Sangamon Cycling Series (SCS) is a four-month program designed to help cyclists build fitness over the summer and connect with other cyclists. Your registration includes entry into four supported "events" starting at various Sangamon County parks. Each event features four different distances ranging from 25 miles to 100 miles. It's your choice which distance to ride. The SCS is a great way to train for the Capital City Century on September 14, 2024!

At the end of the series, all registrants are invited to celebrate at a party at a local restaurant (location TBD). Registrants' names are entered into a drawing for door prizes and gift certificates to Sangamon County bike shops.

Do I need to be a member of the Springfield Bicycle Club to Participate?
No, non-members are welcome to join in the fun. Members of the SBC will pay $20 and non-members will pay $30 for the entire series. We hope you'll decide to join the Springfield Bicycle Club but membership is not mandatory.

What is the Cost of the Series?
Registration fee is $20 for Springfield Bicycle Club members and $30 for non-members.

What Does the Registration Fee Cover?

  • Embroidered patch
  • Four supported rides featuring a rest stop with bottled water and prepackaged nutrition.
  • SAG support at each ride for any rider who is unable to finish the ride.
  • Entry into the drawing for door prizes and bike shop gift certificates at the post-season party.

Stay Up-to-Date! Once registered, you will receive email notifications about each upcoming event that will contain information about route options.  You can also keep an eye on this page for announcements.

Navigation - Don't Get Lost!
We really don't want our riders getting lost!  We try to provide experienced ride leaders for each of the four events.
RidewGPS routes are published prior to each event. If you don't have a subscription to RidewGPS, you may join the Springfield Bicycle Club's RidewGPS club.
Marked Routes - For those who don't navigate with GPS, we go out the week prior to each event and mark the shortest route with pavement arrows.
Downloadable maps - We'll provide a map in PDF format that you may download and use to navigate.
