Info for Route Checker Volunteers

Thanks to all of you for giving up part of your Friday to help check routes for the Capital City Century! Please know that we really appreciate our volunteers and could not pull this event off without your help!

Some of you are helping to mark the routes on Wednesday. The goal for route checking is to make sure that all turns are marked with arrows and signage, and also to make sure that none of the signs have been tampered with, run over, bent, folded or otherwise mutilated, as sometimes happens.

We will meet at 8 AM, Friday, September 8th at the Sherman Athletic Club. The address is 300 South First, Sherman, IL.

Routes for the 2023 CCC are at the link below. Please review and familiarize yourself with the route that you are assigned to.

Route colors are as follows:

12-Mile Family Route Orange
20-Mile Road Route Blue
40-Mile Road Route Red
51-Mile Groad Route Pink
63-Mile Road Route Green
100/125 Mile Road Rte Yellow  (for the 125-mile, we'll mark an extra loop north of Middletown in orange)

Teams are as follows:
12-Mile Diana Nevitt
20-Mile Diana Nevitt
40-Mile Jon Edwards and Marty Celnick
51-Mile Groad Casey Primm
63-Mile Jon Edwards and Marty Celnick
100/125-Mile John Kinsel

John Kinsel will serve as our Team Captain and will give instructions before we set out on our tasks.  He has years of experience marking and checking routes and will be a great leader.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's enough for now.  I'll see you all on Friday morning!  As always, thanks very much for volunteering for this essential task.
